Have you ever felt butterflies in your stomach when you see someone? That rush of emotions that makes you think, “This must be love!” But wait—what if it’s just infatuation?
Love or Infatuation? Let’s Test It!
Take a moment and answer these questions honestly:
Do you think more about what you can get from them or how you can serve them?
Are you drawn to their character or just their looks and charm?
If they had a rough season—lost their job, fell ill, or made a mistake—would your feelings remain?
Does your relationship draw you closer to God, or does it distract you?
If your connection is based on fleeting emotions, surface-level attraction, or an obsession with the idea of the person, you might be dealing with infatuation.
Infatuation is a Spark, But Love is a Steady Flame
Infatuation is instant—love takes time.
Infatuation is selfish—love is selfless.
Infatuation fades—love endures.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 defines true love:
"Love is patient, love is kind... It does not dishonor others; it is not self-seeking… It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
How Do You Know It’s True Love?
You respect and value them beyond emotions.
You choose them daily, even when the feelings aren’t intense.
Your relationship honors God and helps you grow in faith.
You’re willing to work through challenges, not just enjoy the good times.
